Psychology Tactics to Earn More on the Side

To generate extra monthly income, I have been consulting for local entrepreneurs on web marketing and search tactics for about 6 months. In fact, I just launched my official site, we specialize in helping local businesses generate business from the web. At first, I thought it may be a good idea to do FREE work. I quickly learned that offering free work made me look desperate.  My intentions in doing this was to get one good client, do a bang up job for next to nothing, and have them be my ambassador, my walking, talking reference. I still have that approach but I cut out the “I’ll do it for free” offer. Here is a clip by Ramit Sethi, author of “I Will Teach you to Be Rich Blog” on the psychology of valuing yourself as a freelancer.

Welcome to JK on the Web!

Welcome to my personal site and blog. I put this together simply to create my spot on the web to promote myself, my interests,  share and pass along knowledge and to participate  in something big. Someone said recently that the web, as we know it, is about 13-14 years old. Try to think back at what has happened in that short period of time. Web entrpreneurs have built eBay, Amazon, Facebook, Skype, Paypal and Twitter, just to name a few…what’s next? And what about the thousands of smaller ventures that have sparked a new era of entrepreneurship.  I guess I am a little excited about this and what is to come… and although I’m not all that new to the web, only recently have I really started ”getting it”.

Because my line of work is directly linked to the internet, I spend way too much time browsing and discovering random, cool..sometimes useful websites. People are coming up with crazy ideas, businesses and new ways of connecting which are changing the way we live our lives everyday..and I want to sort through it and share my thoughts on it here.

It will take me a while to narrow the focus of my blog and master the art of storytelling (meaning to write without being boring)  but hang in there and come back often. You can subscribe here to my blog and to be notified when I post awesome stuff. In the meantime, if you have your own blog or online space, please share it.
